Major trend in the design field."
He briefly mentioned some important topics like below
1.Push economy - Retailers have more pull to tell manufacturers what they want and even hold their own internal design teams to meet more consumers needs and to push manufacturers to create unique products.
2.New design generation:
Challenge: Tools changed to digital experiences.
According to the tools, we hardly indentify individuals' works...but depending on the Internet, overall problem-solving skill has a deeper understanding within the generation.
3.Global collaborative product development:
The difficulty of separating design process into different cultures. For example, form making/form giving shifts to Asia?
Good news for industrial designers.

MYTO - KGID's new chair ... the insight of the manufacture
喜歡Konstantin Grcic設計的Miura Chair嗎?那就更不能錯過他最新的MYTO椅，與化學材料公司BASF合作運用他們新的easy-flow plastic技術Ultradur® High Speed製作出強壯的injection mold chair，在技術上的突破在於此有機塑料加熱後能夠流動比一般製程塑料有兩倍的距離，也就是說塑料的流動性更好，在對設計師來說，造型的可能性將會更有彈性。
因為我自己也正在與塑膠模具製造廠商合作，在合作上不難發現角色定位上的困難，然而我發現這家BASF公司有非常明確的公司定位，在他們的flyer上很清楚的表明「we don't do design - we help your design projects even better with the right plastic.」這是多麼讓設計師振奮的一句話。
至於KC這次的設計，我個人並不是非常喜歡，造型與結構上似乎沒有他Miura椅來得耳目一新，但對於這樣的合作與技術的嘗試我是很羨慕的。

Philippe Starck Said "Design is Dead"

This is really important to think about how a famous designer will feel ashamed about his previous works after years. P.S do become a very popular topic in the world. And I know lots of young designers treat him like God father. But there are more complains about how expensive and useless his works are. Especially the environmental issues are coming up. People like Michael Braungart who is trying to change the system of industrial production really work on solutions to the situation. I see this is a very important duty as a young product designer.
However, it is a really tough subject for the development of Aisa market. Because what Braungart tries to do is not only about the companies but also about the education. It needs time.
I still remember Braungart said a survey about Asia's fake products - " Fake brands' products has less toxic elements than real brands. How do you feel about it?" Designers are in an age to make change for the nature, and we need to learn the lesson from the last generation.

我跟著「奈良美智去旅行」了幾個小時
我跟大學好友鳥偉去看了Nara的紀錄片，整部片的平淡與真實也傳達出如Nara的個性，我深深還記得片中他靦腆的面對突如其來的名聲與支持，表達著始終保持的單純自我信念，別只被大大眼睛的邪惡小女孩所吸引，試著去感受他筆畫中的色彩與細膩的創作中的情緒吧。

2008台灣國際兒童電視影展4月4日登場囉！

2008第三屆台灣國際兒童電視影展將於4月4日至4月8日在台北誠品書店信義店舉行，播出來自世界各國近一百部，適合兒少觀眾欣賞的影片。影展期間還有好玩有趣的工作坊「光影片廠」、主題國「北歐館」展示、影片延伸閱讀的「兒童書展」以及「小導演大夢想」的BOX角落……等等。
從三月初開始的「魔法故事窩」，將有小野、李淑楨、李偉文、麥若愚、王瓊文等「故事魔法師」為小朋友說故事；「魔法花園」數位影音裝置展於3月28日至4月8日於誠品書店敦南店B2舉行，邀請來自美國麻省理工學院媒體實驗室(MIT Media Lab)的台灣海外學子，及實踐媒傳系的學生，展出「聲音叢林」、「聲影」及「Sit and play」、「風/二極體」等光影聲音的互動創作。
影展首賣會將於3月8日下午兩點於誠品書店敦南店一樓大廳舉行，每部影片酌收50元，其餘週邊活動皆為免費入場，歡迎大小朋友一同來享受魔法光影的奇幻世界。

談談綠色幻象 Let's talk about Green hallucination. Vol.1
"在未來競爭的世界裡面，綠色不只不是讓人們付出更多代價的產業，反而綠色清淨科技才是真正的競爭關鍵。因為世界是平的趨勢讓各家廠商負擔不起浪費和污染的代價，Wal-Mart要提昇卡車的每公升汽油行駛里程數，只因為他們必須要再降低成本……
因為所有的綠色科技產品都必須要是聰明產品，而只有知識密集產業才能製造的出這種高效率、節能、低排放、低污染的產品，這種產業不可能外包給中國和印度；這些好的、綠色的聰明製造業將會是未來先進國家發展的主要力量！" 以上節錄自朱學恆的blog,在他這篇文章裡有很清楚簡單對目前全球暖化議題的整理,我倒是感到非常訝異,因為少有blogger會對此有興趣,並提出自己的見解,(尤其是朱的文章總是嘻鬧與論點完美結合。)
而我想藉此談談近來的觀察，就從美國Las Vegas最大的電子產品展CES來說說現有趨勢，此展集結全球科技精英企業人士，對以開發電子產品＂做生意＂上最有效的交流，白話點就是讓公司談賺錢生意的地方，台灣的外貿協會也有參加此展，然而在相關綠色科技的發展上，只可以說嗅到一點點味道，少部份公司有針對新能源的開發，或是產品研發上都有些許應用產出，像是Nokia已有全由環保材質製造的手機，同時也在展中專闢了一區關於Eco friendly區，其中的Eco Sensor Concept，對未來在Wearable Electronic上使用Solar Cell提出了近領域溝通技術NFC的概念，然而以企業的規模而言，對於環境的責任絕對大於提出概念產品罷了，同時該如何影響並教育市場、改變企業文化、修正公司策略等，是一般人或設計師該去觀察的重點，因為這將影響的是下一代的環境。
在台灣對於全球暖化的議題卻始終浮不上檯面，這主要是因為國情與政治關係，那學校教育總該有點遠見吧？Sustainability, eco design等議題出現在設計教育裡少之又少，融入至產品設計開發教育更可說是不可能，單就這點來看大部分台灣的設計學院可說真是閉門造車，難登上國際頂尖的舞台，而好的例子可以從MIT與Art Center中看到端倪，MIT最近公布將有1.4多billions投入energy research projects，而Art Center與企業的緊密配合，最近在INDEX競賽拿下大獎的GE Sponser project，我想點出一個重要的事情，就是設計教育的重要趨勢將會在"Business"與"Technology"的結合帶領出成果，而個體的學習也應該從這方向去思考，關切國際情勢與環保議題是急迫且關鍵的。

Congratulations to Studio22!!!

(picture from designboom)Congratulations to Studio22!!! Their works was selected in the 2007 Tokyo Designers Week and sell on line now.
Two of my friends, yiting cheng & sean yu, they hold a studio in Taipei which is focus on the design by the common material - "concrete." What surprise to people is they made it into "Rings." However, this special combination keeps catching our attentions. "Structure, Roughness, and Youth" are what I can feel about. They come from the possibililties of concrete and also touch a little bit Dr. Martens' spirit I think.
I do believe they are giving this old material a new life.

A great work from my best friend - Eric who did put kind and open-minded ideas into his works. Especially this piece "Color Guard-Malaria Protection re-imagined", it achieved a unbelieveable stage through INDEX, Business Week, and so on.
The Project Brief : Color Guard mosquito bed net
Color Guard mosquito bed net is the first bed net that has a double-layer that prevents mosquitos from biting through the net. Also, each net is dyed a custom color by its owner with a colored insecticide that impregnates the fibers of the net. It is safe to humans but kills mosquitoes on contact. This huge project was only possible by the efforts of my teammates.

以下是我節錄於CTV訪問Subkarma形象設計公司兩位創始英國人的內容
主持人：你們幫助的企業，是否限定在某些產業？
James：一開始我們是在中部針對手工具的代工廠，發展到現在幾乎什麼客戶都接，譬如說3C、衣服、吃的、服務類的，我們的Design Process是都一樣的，先瞭解客戶是誰，再針對他們設計。
主持人：客戶需不需要一些門檻或基本條件才能符合出去競爭的能力？
Tony：我們會先瞭解客戶的狀況與能力，並且安排brand courses first，其實不是每一家都可以成功，所以在一定的評估之後，我們才會決定是否接受案子。
James：另外，台灣談了很久的品牌，我們認為其實談品牌除了設計，還得有『整個公司改變的決心』。
主持人：有無實際走進台灣的工作環境，引導他們更國際化？
Tony：有的，我們不但設計攤位、教導客戶要怎麼與buyers溝通、形象如何適合外國人的想法等等。
Subkarma公司有16位員工分佈在在台中與台北，我們希望多年後台灣可已有自己的brand manager而不需要求助國外的資源。
